Ruth Ann McConkey

President


Ruth Ann has been President of GLC since January 2011 and is responsible for the investment management and business operations of GLC.

Ruth Ann has held several direct portfolio management roles where she gained extensive experience in equity, fixed income and commercial mortgage investments for public and private markets. She later took on senior management roles, eventually becoming President of London Capital Management Ltd., a predecessor of GLC.

With more than 30 years of experience, Ruth Ann is known for her straightforward approach, decisiveness and passion for the business. From vision in the early days to heading today’s leading investment firm, she was a driving force behind the creation of GLC – the successful merger of three investment firms, bringing together a talented team of investment professionals and growing GLC’s assets under management to more than $50 billion.

Ruth Ann is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and holds an honours bachelor of business administration degree (finance major) from Western University.

Ron Hanson

Chief Investment Officer


Ron is responsible for all GLC's investment teams, investment performance and portfolio development. He also leads GLC’s investment strategy team.

He is responsible for the oversight and direction of investment policies and portfolio management. He ensures each mandate’s portfolio construction and overall investment strategy aligns with its strategic objectives and risk parameters, and is ultimately responsible for ensuring GLC’s investment performance remains strong. Ron’s responsibilities include taking a measured and proactive approach to managing investment risks and the strategic development of GLC’s investment offering.

A key member of GLC's Asset Mix Committee, Ron brings direct portfolio management experience in equity and balanced portfolios, including specialty portfolio strategies (e.g. Canadian Mid Cap, Science and Technology).

Ron has led many large-scale initiatives for GLC, including signing on to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing and co-developing proprietary portfolio management tools with industry-leading service providers such as Bloomberg.

Ron is a CFA charterholder and earned an honours bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Manitoba.

Nancy Harris

Senior Vice-President, Marketing and Business Development


Nancy is responsible for all strategic marketing initiatives, communications and business development of GLC's investment operations.

She consults with business partners, financial advisors and corporate clients on product development, investment strategy, capital market insights and portfolio design.

Nancy has more than 30 years of investment industry experience and has held a range of senior investment management roles.

She has experience in strategic portfolio management and investment policy development for corporate, pension and institutional clients.

Nancy has been instrumental in broadening the scope of GLC-managed fund offerings on the segregated and mutual fund platforms of some of Canada’s largest financial companies.

A strategic thinker with a business focus, her ability to forge a strong team has elevated GLC’s offering from coast to coast.

Nancy is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from McMaster University and a bachelor of science degree from the University of Guelph.

Frank Callaghan

Senior Vice-President, Finance and Operations; Chief Compliance Officer


Frank is responsible for all GLC's financial management, operations and compliance-related activities.

Frank has more than 30 years of industry experience. His expertise on issues affecting the asset management industry are often sought out by Canada’s regulatory and asset management governing bodies such as the Portfolio Managers’ Association of Canada.   

His team provides support to GLC's investment management divisions, including portfolio reporting, portfolio analytics and investment data and technology. Frank’s team is driven to ensure GLC’s portfolio managers have the information needs and processes in place for effective portfolio management, that there is proper oversight of the portfolios GLC manages, and that the senior leadership team have the resources and reporting for their respective business units.

Frank is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and holds a bachelor of arts degree (economics) from Queen's University.

Christine Wellenreiter

Vice-President, Marketing and Communications


Christine is responsible for overseeing all of GLC’s communications, branding and marketing initiatives. Her team shares insights into GLC’s portfolio strategies, market views and industry themes.

Christine works closely with GLC’s portfolio management teams. Her insight into current market conditions and financial market themes have appeared in national pieces for more than a decade such as in GLC’s monthly Market Matters.

Bringing more than 15 years of industry experience to the table, Christine’s marketing acumen, deep understanding of the asset management industry and straightforward communication style have brought the GLC brand to life across the country.

Christine is GLC’s bilingual representative (French) and a long-time member of the American and Canadian Marketing Associations (AMA and CMA). She has also served as a panel judge for the CMA’s national awards.

Christine earned her bachelor of arts degree (psychology) and certificate in practical French (certificat de Français pratique) from Western University.
